Gold Coast Campervan Hire was founded in 2021 by Jodie Cockerill, but the story really began several years earlier with one very special campervan called Spirit.
Spirit was lovingly transformed into a fully self-contained campervan, purpose-built for one incredible dream, a solo lap around Australia. Equipped with off-grid capability including solar power, fresh water storage and everything needed for independent travel, Spirit became Jodie's home on the road throughout her unforgettable 2018 adventure.
Like many first-time travellers, Jodie set off feeling both excited and nervous. Leaving her home on the Gold Coast, she questioned whether she had made the right decision. Travelling alone seemed daunting, and she worried about being away from her family.
Those fears quickly disappeared.
On her very first afternoon, fellow travellers welcomed her into their campsite, and she immediately discovered what so many people love about the campervan lifestyle, the incredible community, genuine friendships and unforgettable experiences that happen along the way.
That journey changed everything.
After returning home, Spirit became the centre of many more adventures, particularly camping holidays with Jodie's grandchildren. Watching others discover the same freedom and joy she had experienced inspired the next chapter.
In 2021, Gold Coast Campervan Hire was born with a simple vision: to give others the opportunity to experience the freedom of campervan travel without the cost and commitment of owning a campervan.
Today our fleet has grown, but our values remain exactly the same.

“Myself and my two girlfriends hired this vans to go camping for a 30th, as unequipped travellers we were so pleased with how equiped, easy and convenient this van is. You honestly just need yourself and your clothes the spirit can has everything you need for a an easy, comfortable adventure. Will be using again”

“The van was a dream to drive with everything required. All communication was great and very responsive. Full instructions provided by video and on pick up, very thorough. We had no issues whatsoever. The bed is very comfortable, we took our own bedding. Theres quite a bit of room for storage up front, we had our bags and also under the bed. Camp chairs and table perfect. Cooking facilities in van great, my only suggestion would be if youre planning on camp fire cooking take some tongs BBQ utensils. Highly recommend this van for an adventure for two! We had an awesome time Thanks Jodie”

Microwave, kettle, nespresso, and cooker all mean you can live with homes comforts on the road! The slide out chairs and table are a genius addition to enjoy chill time! The warm shower is also fantastic! The van sits comfortably on the road on the speed limit and offers really great visibility for a vehicle of its size.”
