Book a campervan with air conditioning
After a hot, humid summer’s day spent on the beach or hiking in a national park, nothing beats winding down in a cool, humidity-free campervan. Forget about tossing and turning in bed under a fan, trying to get comfortable enough to sleep.
Our air-conditioned vans Spirit and Harmony make sleeping a breeze even on the hottest nights.
If you’ve booked a powered site, our air-conditioners will run off the mains power. We have generators for hire if you’re planning on camping on an unpowered site or off grid, for example in a national park or a free camp.
Before you leave on your trip, make sure you check with the campgrounds about time restrictions for running generators. Generators can be noisy so their use is mostly limited to daytime and early evening to ensure a peaceful stay for all campers.

Plan your trip with heat in mind
Before heading off on a summer holiday, check out the spots that offer some relief from the heat. It’s great to get out in the sunshine and soak up that vitamin D. It’s a bonus to come back to a cool, shady space where you can chill and relax at the end of a fun-filled day!
- Google ‘weather statistics’ on the places you’re thinking of going to. You’ll find useful monthly minimum/maximum daily averages for the month/s you’re planning to go. You can also view rainfall stats, to help you avoid areas that attract lots of summer rain.
- Check out campground websites and book campsites with shade and/or those that capture a sea/river/mountain breeze. These websites generally have a map of the park, indicating campsites that have shade. National Park websites also indicate which shady spots are suitable for campervans (i.e. trees are not too low-hanging). If in doubt, call the campgrounds and ask for their recommendations for the coolest sites with the most shade.
- Avoid high-temperature inland areas in peak summer.
